FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness isn't easy...but it is powerful. Experience its healing a little bit more every day through these brief daily devotionals.

  • Forgiveness Takes Time
FORGIVENESS begins here! Some apologies are a long time coming: it took Joseph's brothers almost 40 years. No matter how long it's been, forgiveness can powerfully change things.

  • Please Forgive
The assumptions we make about each other play an important part in forgiveness and reconciliation.

  • Know Your Place
Forgiveness requires us to admit that we're not God and challenges us to be more like Him.

  • Good and Evil
Forgiveness doesn't mean what the other person did wasn't evil. It means you have decided to focus on God's goodness instead.

  • Kindness and Comfort
Being kind goes a long way in making reconciliation possible, and its effects are felt for a long time to come.

  • Blessed to be Forgiven
Being godly doesn’t mean you never mess up: it means you ask for forgiveness and learn from your mistakes.

  • Consequences and Confession
Who is to blame for the way you feel? Start with yourself.

  • While There is Still Time
Don’t put off seeking forgiveness: you don’t know how long you have left.

  • Don’t Be a Mule
Once you’ve been forgiven, you should learn from your mistakes.

  • Surrounded
The One whose forgiveness you need the most is also the One most willing to forgive.

  • Have Mercy
It is God’s character to show us love and mercy: we don’t deserve it otherwise.

  • Against God
Ultimately, all the wrong things we do are against God.

  • Broken
To experience cleansing and joy, we must first be broken.

  • Out in the Open
God’s forgiveness allows us to bring our biggest mistakes out into the open: they might just help someone else.

  • Build Up
Truly experiencing God’s mercy transforms all of our relationships.

  • Bless the LORD
Life is full of problems and pains. God can help in every way.

  • Known
God has made Himself known to us, and His love and forgiveness are so great.

  • From East to West
The forgiveness God offers us is unlike any other, removing our wrongs as far as the east is from the west.

  • We are Dust
Life is short, and we so easily waste it on the wrong things. God’s love changes that.

  • Make It Personal
God deserves our praise for what we know about Him - and even more so for how we know Him.

  • Who is This?
Jesus is the Word become flesh, stepping out of Scripture and showing us what God's love and forgiveness look like.

  • Vulnerable
Forgiveness requires that we make ourselves vulnerable, letting others come close.

  • Cancelled the Debt
We all have our debts. The issue is whether or not we recognize them.

  • Do You See?
Lives and relationships change when we learn to see people like Jesus does.

  • Forgiveness and Love
The more we love, the more we're forgiven...and the more we forgive.

  • If Your Brother Sins
There’s a right way to handle when someone wrongs us…and what we normally do is not it. We need Jesus to teach us a better way.

  • When You Agree
Jesus gives us an amazing incentive to resolve our differences: we experience His power and presence when we agree.

  • How Often Will I Forgive?
Whenever we reach the point where we think we have forgiven enough, Jesus challenges us to forgive more.

  • The Master Forgives
We owe an impossibly large debt, and it burdens everyone around us. Yet when we cry for mercy, our Master will forgive us.

  • Forgive from Your Heart
The hurt we cause each other is real; but, if God has forgiven us all our debt, we should also forgive from the heart.

  • Have Faith in God
Forgiveness is hard. We need to have faith in God to make it possible.

  • Move Mountains
Bad things have happened to you: God can move those mountains.

  • Prayer and Forgiveness
It is in prayer that the hardest work of forgiveness occurs.

  • Whenever You Pray
Forgiveness isn’t a one-time event but an ongoing process that we engage in whenever we pray.

  • Forgiven or Not?
In some translations, Mark 11:26 warns we won’t be forgiven if we don’t forgive. Even if that verse is a footnote in yours, it is still an important point.

  • But I Say
There's a way we normally behave...and then there's the Way of Jesus.

  • The Golden Rule
The world teaches us to ask, "What's in it for me?" Jesus teaches us to do for others what we wish would be done for us.

  • What Credit is That?
Anyone can be kind to those who are kind to them. Jesus teaches His followers to do something considerably more challenging.

  • Sons of the Most High
If we're going to be children of God, we best start acting like it.

  • What's Your Measure?
That way that we judge, condemn, forgive, or give to others? That's what we are going to receive ourselves.

  • "Father, Forgive Them"
While they were killing Jesus, He forgave them. How?

  • "They Know Not What They Do"
The Jewish leaders had been plotting His death. The Romans were experts in torture. So, why did Jesus say they didn't know what they were doing?

  • Same Sentence of Condemnation
    Hurt people hurt people.

  • "You will be with Me"
Real, restored relationship becomes possible when forgiveness leads to repentance.

  • In God's Hands
We can withstand terrible pain when we remember that we are ultimately in God's hands.

  • Forgiving like Jesus
When we see in Luke how Jesus forgave those killing Him, it seems impossible for us to do. Then Luke shows us one of Jesus' earliest followers who did the same.

  • Enraged
It doesn't matter how smart or religious you are: you mess up when you're angry.

  • Look Up
Whenever you're trying to do the right thing and people mistreat you, look up.

  • Where Do You Stand?
Even if you're not throwing any stones, where you stand in times of conflict matters.

  • Ready to Forgive
With his dying breath, the first Christian martyr forgave like Jesus. Stephen's ability do to that was the result of  everyday choices made long before.

  • Love and Serve
In order to forgive, we must be motivated by genuine love and a desire to serve the Lord.

  • Bless Your Heart
Following Jesus requires that we respond differently to the world’s attacks.

  • How’s Your Sight?
To change our responses, we first have to change how we see people.

  • “As Much as it Depends on You”
No matter how hard you try, there are some people who simply won’t live peaceably with you.

  • Overcoming Evil
Ultimately, evil will only be overcome when we trust God enough to forgive and do good.

  • Painful
There’s no avoiding it: sometimes we must have painful conversations.

  • “This Hurts Me More than it Hurts You”
When correcting wrong, our motivation matters tremendously.

  • How to Forgive
When someone is sorry, there are specific steps we should take to forgive them.

  • Why to Forgive
We forgive the way we do to be obedient to Jesus and for the good of others.

  • Not Outwitted
When we fail to forgive, we give Satan a big opportunity to trap us all.

  • Chosen
If you are a Christian, God has chosen you. Do you know what for? To be like Him.

  • Harmony
There are so many things in this sinful world that would tear us apart. Jesus provides what we need to live together in harmony.

  • Bear with Me
Some issues we have with one another need to be addressed, and God teaches us how. Others, though, we simply need to bear and forgive.

  • Letting Loose
God is actively doing so much to help us get past our hurts. Our job is to let Him.

  • Whatever You Do
We want to be so permeated by God’s loving and forgiving character that everything we say and do is for Jesus. Don’t miss the conclusion of our FORGIVENESS series!
